Peter Garver launched a development company, Sustainable Development Partnerships, in March 2008. In addition to development for his own account, Peter consults with other developers to strategically position their product or companies to be green, and provides other development consulting services. Peter will do for others what he has done for Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT).
As Vice President of Development at COPT, Peter oversaw the development group, and led the effort to position COPT as a green developer of national prominence. In his five years at COPT, Peter took this New York Stock Exchange REIT from a company that had little awareness of sustainability to one that counts green development as fundamental to its culture. Under Peter’s leadership COPT achieved:
• 3 LEED Gold Buildings
• 3 LEED Silver Buildings
• 24 additional LEED Registered buildings
• Winner of the NAIOP 2005 National Green Development Award
• Winner of the USGBC- Baltimore 2005, 2006 & 2007 Green Leadership Awards
• 9 LEED Accredited Professionals on staff
Peter has 11 years of experience in development management. Products have included mixed use, class A office, adaptive re-use, multi family and senior housing. Peter is a licensed architect, and spent 12 years practicing architecture prior to his work as a developer.
Peter has a Masters of Architecture from the University of Virginia, a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
Peter is active in the following organizations: NAIOP, where he sits on its national Green Task Force; ULI, where he is on the ULI Baltimore District Council Executive Committee and co-chairs its Regionalism Committee; and the Mt. Washington Improvement Association, where he chairs its Land Use and Zoning Committee and is its former President.
